Epiphone - 'Elektra' lap steel - 1945 - black finish

epiphone-1945-elektar-uf_tour-1.jpg

Notes:
- This has been called a 1939, 1940 and 1945 depending upon the magazine one has read. As The Edge called it a 1945 in the June 1985 Guitar Player magazine, I will use that information to date the instrument. (1)
- It was purchased from Gruhn's in Nashville in 1982 during the 'October' tour. (1)
- In lieu of standard or country lap steel tunings, The Edge developed his own. "When I first got it, I researched the tunings a littlbe bit and found them all to be extremely uninteresting for me - I mean, they were country tunings. So I made up my own. I put the strings in couples an octave apart. The 1st and 4th strings are an octave apart, the 2nd and 5th strings are the same, and the 3rd and the 6th. So there is basically three notes making a minor chord with a 9th or a 7th." (1)

Notes:
"Here is a possibility of the signal chain of the Yamaha CP70 and Epiphone Elaktar Lap Steel during the War tour.

In the following pic http://tinyurl.com/ettc9 you can clearly see FX chain for the piano and Lapsteel:
Instrument1: A/B Switcher > MXR DC > Ibanez DM2000 Delay > JC120
Instrument2: A/B Switcher > MXR DC > Ibanez DM2000 Delay > JC120
